I am tired of certain Candidate Supporters on DKos
Sat Dec 01, 2007 at 08:16:31 PM PDT
I quite understand that it is Primary season and such actions are sadly par for course. I also understand that every Candidate has their obnoxious supporters. It has been my experience for the last few months that a small group of Hillary supporters have been the most prolific and obnoxious. I am sure that others may have had different experiences and it may also have something to do with the diaries I choose to read and comment in.
Yet that does not excuse their behavior. Anymore than it excuses the similar behavior that other Candidate supporters may have exercised. Note, I am not writing about isolated events when someone blows a gasket. This is a general complaint about the pernicious attempts to stifle any discussion that they disagree with.
Obama is working to Elect Democrats (Updated)
Tue Nov 27, 2007 at 02:33:46 AM PDT
Recently, Hillary and many of her surrogates have been attacking that Obama's Hopefund leadership PAC has been collaborating with Obama's Presidential campaign to bribe people into endorsing Obama. They also accuse Obama and his supporters denial that there is any such program as being disingenuous. They even go so far as to claim it is illegal, despite the fact that other campaign finance officers refute them, the FEC has not seen fit to object to it.
No one has been saying that Obama doesn't have a Leadership PAC. No one is saying that he doesn't use it to assist Democrats get elected. Where the disagreement begins is whether he is doing it specifically to bribe other politicians into endorsing Obama over Hillary.
The Price of The Politics of Hatred
Sun Sep 23, 2007 at 01:32:33 PM PDT
Racism and hatred have become acceptable in American society again. It seems absurd to say that. I believed that society had grown past most of the most harmful effects. Lately I have come to realize that it was just laying dormant.
A few weeks ago I was driving back to Seattle from Yakima. I wrote a diary about an incident that happened when I stopped off to get something to eat. It brought back memories that I thought would stay in the past. It also sparked a conversation with my wife. Recently events in Jena, Louisiana have rekindled that conversation.
It is in this vein that I wish to spur such a dialog here, on Daily Kos. I don't pretend to be an expert. I know what I have experienced and have seen and I am encouraging others to do the same. I can't help but feel recent statements on the floors of the House and Senate have encouraged others to speak and act out on their own racist and prejudiced ideas.
Get A Grip and Get Over Yourselves!
Fri Sep 21, 2007 at 02:28:20 PM PDT
We, here on Daily Kos and the netroots in general, pride ourselves upon the fact that we use reason. That isn't saying passion and emotion are not used but, at the end of the day, we back up that passion and emotion with rational and logic based arguments.
Over the last few weeks there have been a number of events that seem to have pushed the netroots community over the edge. Perhaps it was inevitable. Perhaps it was the impact they have had on recent elections going to their heads. I understand the frustration over the now majority Democratic Congress still behaving like they are in the minority. I understand the anger festering in regards to how the Democrats are handling the entire Iraq War. I understand passions running hot for supporting your candidate for the '08 Presidential Campaign. However, none of the above excuses the viciousness and downright pettiness that has emerged lately amongst the netroots.
What is wrong with some people and Police Brutality?!?
Tue Sep 18, 2007 at 12:55:35 PM PDT
I have been reading the various diaries and comments of people about the Kerry's visit to the University of Florida and I am appalled at the callousness many seem to have. First of all, Kerry is not to be blamed for the actions of the UF Police. There is some merit that he should have been more forceful in telling the police to back down. However, by his account through proxy, he was unable to see/hear what was happening to the boy. Having been in similar auditoriums I feel that is credible.
The actions of the UF Police, however, were horrendous. At every step they escalated the situation rather than deescalate it. The boy (and I use the term boy purposely) was rude. No question. He cut in line. He gave a rambling and sometimes incomprehensible summation followed by questionable questions. He attempted to evade the police and being handcuffed by them. Again, no question on those events.
Stop doing the Republican's dirty work for them! The MoveOn.org Ad called it right!
Fri Sep 14, 2007 at 12:53:05 PM PDT
First of all, the ad was targeted at an individual not the entire army. In fact, the add went out of its way to praise the army and its soldiers. It asked a very pertinent and timely question.
Based upon lie after lie that has come out of the White House. Based upon rosy scenarios that held no resemblance to the actual outcomes that Pentagon and Iraq Generals have given over and over. The exact replication of Rovian talking points between the two. The question of whether Gen. Petraeus was going to tell the truth or spin White House lies was pertinent.
Racism in North Bend, WA
Thu Sep 06, 2007 at 09:43:08 AM PDT
I never thought of myself as suffering from Post Traumatic Stress, but I found out differently over the Labor Day weekend.
I grew up in the South during the late 60's and 70's. The Civil Rights movement had already changed many things and attitudes. But there were still battles being fought even though the war had been won.
After spending a wonderful day traveling from Seattle to Yakima by way of Rainier National Forest. Playing tourist around Yakima for most of the day. Then taking I-90 back to Seattle, we stopped off in North Bend because I was hungry. It was there I relived one of the worst experiences of my life.
What more does Bush have to do to get Impeached?
Thu Apr 05, 2007 at 05:36:39 PM PDT
There is only one reason that Congress is not pushing forward to initiate impeachment proceedings, and that is politics. President Bush has repeatedly shown his contempt of both the Congressional and the Judicial branches of the United States Government. His latest stunt installing Fox as the Ambassador to Belgium with a recess appointment shouldn't be suprising to anyone. He already did it with a recess appointment of Bolton to the U.N. He is continuing to dismantle the EPA, even after the Supreme Court ruled against his Administration. He is stonewalling the Congressional inquiry on the firing of U.S. Attorney's, in the same manner he successfully stonewalled Fitzgerald's investigation of the outing of a covert CIA operative. These are only events of the last month.
What does a President have to do to get impeached?
