DFNYC endorses Steve Harrison vs. Vito (No More Vino) Fossella
Wed May 07, 2008 at 02:33:42 PM PDT
Democracy for NYC recently held a forum and endorsement vote in the Democratic Primary in NYC's 13th Congressional district, currently represented by incumbent Republican Vito Fossella. Steve Harrison has won our endorsement with an unprecedented 100% of the vote!
Yep! One hundred per cent of the vote.
The reason may be that the only other declared Dem for this seat managed not only to avoid the DFNYC candidate forum but also missed two other public meeting with Steve this year.
I'll tell you more about the race below:
Where would Dick Cheney Spend Earth Day?

Where would Dick Cheney spend Earth Day? Who would welcome his company? Who would he invite along?
What kind of people would want him around or want to be around him? What nefarious business would he be conducting? Who would do business with him?
I found out.

NY-13 A campaign grows in Brooklyn, Debate Report
Wed Oct 11, 2006 at 09:53:07 AM PDT
I was at the debate tonight between a progressive Democrat Steve Harrison (Yeah !!)
http://www.harrison06.com/
and the incumbent Vito Fossella (Boo! Hiss!).
A word about the district. It contains a sliver of Brooklyn (where I live) and all of Staten Island (pop. 460,000 appox.) Fossella, who is the only R Congressman in New York City, is a member in good standing of the BushCo. Rubber Stamp Squad.
Tonight they met at a church hall in Brooklyn for a debate.
This is what it looked like to me:
I did not have a recorder so merely took written notes which are by nature inaccurate. I apologize in advance for any errors. (The characterizations are MINE and I don't apologize at all).
A Class Act
Thu Sep 07, 2006 at 02:24:22 PM PDT
The Steve Harrison (NY-13) campaign is having a baseball/barbeque on Staten Island tonight at the minor league stadium of the Yankees farm team.
http://www.harrison06.com/
They asked for donations to allow them to take some of the campaign volunteers to the event (at $30 each). I couldn't go but but I had just got a $44.88 credit to my credit card. I figured "For fifteen bucks I can send two people." So I did (and tipped Act Blue 10%).
Tonight I got a call from Tom who runs the campaign saying that they had gotten a donation of a block of seats for the volunteers.
(Here comes the classy part)
Since the promotion said all the funds would be used for game/barbecue tickets would I consent to allow the campaign to spend the funds on other needs.
With that level of concern for honesty in little matters I have even more confidence in Steve to be our Representative from NY-13.
Cardinals in the Congress. Who Knew ??

In a New York Times article from yesterday (Jun 02) I came across some intersting information. The article itself was about lobbyist Letitia Hoadley White who started her career as an employee of Republican Congressman Jerry Lewis.

I know, I know, all part of the everyday stink. The part that bothered me was the matter of fact way they discuss the details of earmarks. Did you know this ...?
